ZEAL FOR GIVING

“Change for a Change”

On a budget, it can be tough to have enough left over to help others. But there are still ways to give generously to those in need.

In my area, North Fulton Community Charities collects and distributes 2 tons of food per day to needy families. If you match coupons with sales you can purchase groceries for a fraction of the original cost. I use coupons that I don’t need, matched with grocery and personal care items that are on sale. Every week I spend about $3 for a large bag of items worth 3-5 times that much, which my son and I deliver to the food bank.

So I’m starting something new…I hope you find it helpful! I’m calling it Change for a Change. Every Tuesday I’ll match up the best low-cost, non-perishable deals at Publix for $3. Every Monday I’ll match up the best deals at Kroger. You’ll be surprised at how much you can get for such a small amount of change :) Help me make a “Change”!

Want to keep it a little closer to home? Buy extra food using coupons and sales, and cook dinner for your neighbor.

Or go global. Many military commissaries overseas will allow families to use manufacturer coupons up to 2 months past the expiration date. Overseas Coupon Program helps match coupon donors with overseas bases. The coupons are made available to the families at the PX and Commissary on the base. So don’t throw out those expired coupons…bundle them up and ship them to US servicemen in Japan, Germany, and other far from home spots.
